Professors Roc\u00edo M. Pozo Tom\u00e1s and Adela Rodr\u00edguez Ma\u00f1ogil<\/b> have taught, under the coordination of <\/span>Prof. Dr. Elena Crespo Navarro<\/b>, the practical seminar on non-discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation in the European Union.<\/span>

This is an interdisciplinary teaching innovation activity in which DADE 4th year students and UMH 2nd year Law students have participated.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Seminar was held on April 4<\/span>th<\/span>, 18<\/span>th<\/span> and 24<\/span>th<\/span>, giving students the opportunity to learn, from an eminently practical perspective, the mechanism of the citizens’ initiative in the light of a specific topic, the prohibition of discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation in the European Union. Gamification tools such as Kahoot!, Escape Room and simulations have been used. In addition, the students themselves have produced a short video with a short summary of the sessions.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"A UMH team of the Double Degree in Business Administration and Law students participates in the VI Competition in International Litigation<\/a> (ComLit) organized by the University of Alcal\u00e1 (Madrid, Spain) and the Nueva Granada Military University (Bogot\u00e1, Colombia). 19 teams from different universities from various Latin American countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Peru) and Spain participate in the competition.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Competition consists of the defense of a hypothetical case before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights and is divided into two phases (written and oral). The UMH team successfully participated in the written phase, which ended last May and will now carry out the defense of a fictitious State in the oral phase of the procedure, which will be held in Alcal\u00e1 de Henares from 19th <\/sup>to 23rd <\/sup>of June 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n

The hypothetical case, State of Pandora vs. State of Petolia, proposed by doctors Mar\u00eda Fernanda \u00c1lvarez and Carlos Esp\u00edn Arias (National Human Rights Directorate of the Attorney General Office of Ecuador) deals with an inter-State complaint related to environmental\u00a0 and human rights protection. To prepare its defense, the team studied in depth the inter-American and European systems for the protection of human rights.<\/span><\/p>\n

The international litigation competition aims to improve the legal training of future trial lawyers before international human rights courts, deepen the study of international mechanisms for the protection of human rights from an eminently practical perspective and sponsor the creation of a Ibero-American network of lawyers and expert jurists in international litigation.<\/p>\n

The participation in the ComLit of the UMH team is integrated into the framework of the teaching innovation project-Project PIEU-B\/2022-34 of the Teaching University Innovation Program PIEU-UMH 2022 and has been coordinated, from the Jean Monnet <\/em>Chair of the UMH, by Prof. Elena Crespo Navarro from the Area of \u200b\u200bPublic International Law and International Relations (Legal Science Department). The activity has the support of the UMH Legal Science Department.<\/p>\n

Las profesoras Roc\u00edo M. Pozo Tom\u00e1s<\/strong> y Adela Rodr\u00edguez Ma\u00f1ogil <\/strong>han impartido, bajo la coordinaci\u00f3n de la Profa. Dra. Elena Crespo <\/strong>Navarro,<\/strong> el Seminario pr\u00e1ctico sobre no discriminaci\u00f3n por raz\u00f3n de orientaci\u00f3n sexual en la Uni\u00f3n Europea.<\/p>

Se trata de una actividad de innovaci\u00f3n docente de car\u00e1cter interdisciplinar en la que ha participado el alumnado de 4\u00ba curso de DADE y de 2\u00ba curso de Derecho presencial de la UMH.<\/p>

El Seminario se ha desarrollado los d\u00edas 4, 18 y 24 de abril, dando la oportunidad al alumnado de conocer, desde una perspectiva eminentemente pr\u00e1ctica, el mecanismo de la iniciativa ciudadana a la luz de un tema concreto, el de la prohibici\u00f3n de la discriminaci\u00f3n por raz\u00f3n de orientaci\u00f3n sexual en la Uni\u00f3n Europea. Se han utilizado herramientas\u00a0de gamificaci\u00f3n como Kahoot!, Escape Room y simulaci\u00f3n. Adem\u00e1s, los propios estudiantes han elaborado un v\u00eddeo corto con un breve resumen de las sesiones.\u00a0<\/p>

\"\"Un equipo de estudiantes de DADE de la UMH participa en la VI Competici\u00f3n en Litigaci\u00f3n Internacional<\/em> <\/a>(ComLit) organizada por la Universidad de Alcal\u00e1 (Madrid, Espa\u00f1a) y la Universidad Militar Nueva Granada (Bogot\u00e1, Colombia). En la competici\u00f3n participan 19 de equipos procedentes de diferentes Universidades de varios pa\u00edses Latinoamericanos (Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Per\u00fa) y de Espa\u00f1a.<\/p>

La Competici\u00f3n consiste en la defensa de un caso hipot\u00e9tico ante la Corte Interamericana de Derechos Humanos y se divide en dos fases (escrita y oral). El equipo UMH particip\u00f3 de manera exitosa en la fase escrita, que finaliz\u00f3 el pasado mes de mayo y ahora llevar\u00e1n a cabo la defensa de un Estado ficticio en la fase oral del procedimiento, que se celebrar\u00e1 en Alcal\u00e1 de Henares entre los d\u00edas 19 a 23 de junio de 2023.<\/p>

El caso hipot\u00e9tico, Estado de Pandora vs. Estado de Petolia,<\/em> propuesto por los doctores Mar\u00eda Fernanda \u00c1lvarez y Carlos Esp\u00edn Arias (Direcci\u00f3n Nacional de Derechos Humanos de la Procuradur\u00eda General del Estado de Ecuador) versa sobre una demanda interestatal relacionada con la protecci\u00f3n del medio ambiente y los derechos humanos. Para la preparaci\u00f3n de su defensa, el equipo ha estudiado en profundidad los sistemas interamericano y europeo de protecci\u00f3n de los derechos humanos.<\/p>

La competici\u00f3n en litigaci\u00f3n internacional tiene como objetivos perfeccionar la formaci\u00f3n jur\u00eddica de los futuros abogados litigantes ante los tribunales internacionales de derechos humanos, profundizar en el estudio de los mecanismos internacionales de protecci\u00f3n de los derechos humanos desde una perspectiva eminentemente pr\u00e1ctica y auspiciar la creaci\u00f3n de una red iberoamericana de abogados y juristas expertos en la litigaci\u00f3n internacional.<\/p>

La participaci\u00f3n en la ComLit del equipo UMH se integra en el marco del proyecto de innovaci\u00f3n docente-Proyecto PIEU-B\/2022-34 del Programa de Innovaci\u00f3n Docente Universitaria PIEU-UMH 2022 y ha sido coordinado, desde la C\u00e1tedra\u00a0Jean Monnet\u00a0<\/em>de la UMH, por la Profa.\u00a0 Elena Crespo Navarro del \u00c1rea de Derecho Internacional P\u00fablico y Relaciones Internacionales (Departamento de Ciencia Jur\u00eddica). La actividad cuenta con el apoyo del Departamento de Ciencia Jur\u00eddica de la UMH.<\/p>
